My Mother’s Motherland explores my Soviet heritage, focusing on the struggles and hidden joys within my family’s journey. Featuring family photos and handwritten reflections in Russian, my project shares the emotional weight of my family’s experience of fleeing their homeland. Through this, I hope to offer a deeper understanding of my heritage and the strength of those who fled, even when their words and stories may not be immediately clear.
