This project explores how home appliances can be seamlessly integrated into furniture design, challenging the traditional boundaries between the two and showing how they can coexist in harmony. The goal is to create a unique user experience where a product is first perceived as furniture, and only later recognized as a smart appliance.
Through this exploration, the brand Furnio was established — combining “furn” (from furniture) and “io,” representing technology and connectivity. Furnio’s mission is to design products that allow appliances to naturally blend into living environments.
The first product, SideDock, integrates a robot vacuum docking station into a drawer-style side table. Its key features include an automatic sliding door that conceals the robot vacuum when not in use, and a detachable molded plywood top that can function as an extra seat or small table — offering multi-functionality and adaptability.
This project emphasizes the importance of material selection, subtle detailing, and spatial harmony — ultimately promoting a lifestyle where technology and interior design are beautifully unified.
